The process of creating my digital project of long, never ending, complex….and wonderful! I created an interesting video using my mac’s iMovie and it was fascinating to discover how to construct a ‘movie’. I never really thought about how much time one could spend on the little details in a video like the sound, the size of the letters and so on.
I was supposed to talk about the journey of translation of “Ithaka” but I spiced it up a little. I added some greek music in the background, downloaded a dramatic reading of the poem which I included parts of in the video, I recorded my self on camera- actually this was really funny and annoying because I was trying to create a background so that people wont see my kitchen or living room so I took this big canvas that I have and I asked my brother to hold it up for me as a background as I speak!ha!
In general it was fun, but I hadent used iMovie before and it was daunting having to learn everything at the spot in order to create the video- by the end of it I became an expert! My favorite part is the beginning where the video starts like a movie.
I taped myself talking so many times, I got tired of listening to my own voice- but it was all for the best, I selected my best takes J At some point I read a part of the poem in greek and put subtitles below- I liked doing that!
However, I had an issue, 3 minutes were not enough to cover at least the general ideas of the essay- I had not choice but to be vague and brief- something I don’t like being. But i could at least say my conclusion and argument but it was still very short.
It was amazing how when I first started I couldn’t even think of a good idea while when you are in the process of creating, ideas come up all the time, like the brilliant idea of the canvas wallpaper lol
