Hands down the most interesting final I have done in my life. It’s funny how you plan out something in your head and the final product turns out to be something completely different. I initially wanted to shoot my daily commute to school, but ended up being influenced by my poem choice. Eileen Myles in “The Sad Part Is” describes how she is a poet no matter the setting. In my video, I try to portray the same concept except substituting New Yorker for poet. I believe that no matter where you go in the world you will always take that New York City experience with you. Filming the video was a breeze in the park compared to the editing. Knowing what order you want to put the videos in and how you want to transition each one is really similar to writing a paper. Each video has its purpose, but its purpose would not be best served unless used at the right time. I really wish I had more experience working with video clips and combing them into one video. Other than that, I truly enjoyed this experience and having the opportunity to do something new. I apologize for my poor camera angles/video quality, but I do hope the message behind my digital essay is clear and is a video worth watching.
Thank you for your time.
