Makey Makey

I was very excited to be a part of the first few sets of college students to be given the opportunity to play and experiment with the Makey Makey technology. My group initially decided to do something with Etch a Sketch during the brainstorming session in class. However, as we started doing it, we fed off of each other’s energy and wanted to create a maze where multiple people would try to complete it together. This idea, although it was a great one, required a bit more time to piece together, so instead, we ended up playing a maze game (which I have to mention, we were awesome at!).

A maze could be related to writing an essay. During the thinking and writing process, different ideas are flooding through our brains and a lot of times, we may go off topic (a problem which I think I have at times), which is like getting lost in a maze. We must then try to focus our ideas one on particular thing.

After the Makey Makey session, I began thinking of practical uses for this technology. Yes, it is something fun to play with, but how can we actually use it to create or enhance something that would make our lives easier, or different or better?
