Online Annotation / Translation Hybrid Assignment
For this class meeting, you will complete a collaborative assignment online.
You will work in the same groups as your blog post activities.
To complete this assignment, you will need to log in to your Hypothes.is account.

Instructions:
* Steps 1-4 are due by noon on Monday February 19.
- Before the day of our regularly scheduled class meeting, read Anne Carson’s essay on translation, “Variations on the Right to Remain Silent.”
- On the drop down menu under the tab “Anne Carson/Hypothes.is” on the course website, choose your group’s excerpt of text from the essay.
- Use the Hypothes.is annotate tool to leave a comment that analyzes (by close reading) one sentence from your excerpt. Each group member must choose their own sentence.
- Conclude your analysis/commentary by posing a question.
* Steps 5-6 are due by noon on Tuesday February 20.
- Read through the comments left by the other two groups in their excerpts, accessed from the drop down menu.
- Choose one question and answer it for your classmate. If another student has already answered the question you have chosen, build on their answer to continue the conversation.
* Step 7 will aide you in preparing your Translation Essay writing assignment.
- Use the insights from this collaborative reading activity to plan your translation and translator’s statement.
IMPORTANT:
Remember to choose “Post to Public” to make your annotations visible to others.
Do not delete an annotation once other students have replied to it.
