Before the captivating story with the elderly lawyer, I enjoyed reading about the life of Herman Melville as he seemed revolutionary. I feel like America was given a new perspective by a man who went against the system and the state, and stayed true to his family roots and an innovative way of writing. His cynical approach to his writing made other authors very critical of him, but later had his techniques understood. The way he was a seaman and lived adventurously was the way he was able to write original works which made him so admirable and is something we could all take note of, as we should all put ourselves in situations where we know we could develop a good story out of.
