Japan extended this invitation to offer the American government a firsthand look at just how efficient and remarkable their train system works. Japan wishes to reach out to the US and have them purchase their trains and implement a similar transportation system in the US. This article was published almost three years ago so although a bit outdated, shows that there has been no advancement in these talks.
