I feel that I, as a person who is not Muslim or religious at all, can never know what it’s like to walk in the streets and feel discriminated as soon as I step out. Media paints Islam a negative image which in turn increases the immorality and ignorant views that people tend to lean towards against Muslims. Authoritarianism is shown by those who uses an aggressive approach to setup the rules that dictate what a “good” Muslim is. Those who betray this idea of a “good” Muslim is often punished and in Hanif’s case, death of a friend.
