I work at a food establishment where the power is divided among six different managers who share different levels of power. The other day I watched the second-highest ranking manager push one of his tasks onto one of the lower ranking managers. As I heard him complain about his new task he was responsible for, the second-highest ranking manager went on to tell him that when he would be promoted to his position, he could do the same to those below him. This was a clear display of my manager’s authority, using his rank to get out off his responsibilities and pushing it onto someone with less authority who did not have the choice of refusing. Overall my manager is not a nice person and has the authority that he has to oversee the store but he chose to abuse that authority and use it pass off one of his tasks. It was an abuse of power and wrongful placement of trust in my manager.

The power play between managers was a great analysis. When the lower leaver manger said “he could do the same to those below him.” it showed the power and ruthlessness of an authoritarian. Its shows perfect power play from the higher level manager to the over level manager and down to the workers. You portray a perfect power play and you portray a perfect distribution of power in our daily lives, usually the ones that work.
