    Angelina,
These two are both interesting together, as they seem two sides of the same coin. As they now stand, each thesis is too broad. You might think of combining them, but if you do you would still need to narrow your focus. Think of a particular area of business where upward mobility might encourage both a rewarding and disappointing result. You could also apply this to school (working to get good grades, but then the things you have to give up in order to do this, such as free time, friends, etc.). Of course, you may stick to business, but just make sure you are very specific, so that means using personal examples or going into a heavily researched (would take quite a bit of time) essay.

I think that your first thesis statement will allow you to discuss specifically more about how people view the idea of success. When I read your first statement, I anticipate that you will be talking about careers and matters of money. For your second thesis statement, I expect you to go into detail about the power of money and how it defines us as individuals. I think that both can be more specific but are generally relevant and interesting ideas applicable to today’s career driven people.
