Thesis 1:
The GOP placed in Congress should not abuse the authority placed upon them and fulfil their duties in helping the President with his task of nominating the next Supreme Court Justice to ensure a smooth flow of power between the government.
Thesis 2:
The power play between a mother and child can go both ways when the mother is too strict on her child, forcing them into a bout of self-doubt and anxiety over their own life or if the mother is too lenient in her authority, leaving her child on a path of wayward self-destruction.

Both of these topics are quite good ones. The first is very focused, and could work well as a thesis as it is. For this one, though, you would need to use secondary sources, on top of the Russell sources you’re required to use. If you use the second thesis, you should choose a particular area (friends, school, etc) and remember to use very specific examples (personal ones would be best, either about you, a sibling or a friend) and not just hypothetical or generalized examples.
