Gun rights, while something that has been getting a lot of flack recently, should still be upheld as a constitutional right because it does more to prevent crime than most other measures.
While guns are usually seen as harmful this is not true as in many cases they are used to defend others and taking them away is nothing more than an abuse of power.

The overall topic is a viable one, and I think your first thesis is your most specific. You need to focus this somewhat more, though, to a specific law and how that law has been helpful (rather than hurtful). Also, be sure to address your opposition. Remember, too, you’ll need to use several secondary sources for this, on top of the Russell.
