In many of Bertrand Russell’s lectures the recurring theme of competition amongst humans in the society is very strong. From the first lecture where we read about human beings living together in groups to compete for survival up to his latest lecture we read, where he says “Competition, where it exists, is an immensely powerful incentive.”(Russell 46). Therefore this leads to my conclusion that Bertrand Russell’s, main idea in this lecture and most of the other lectures we have read so far is about competition. He takes the idea of competition and shows us, in his lectures, how it relates to our society and our everyday lives and how it shapes us as human beings. Russell also says that humans will be more likely to achieve something if they were facing competition. Competition inspires humans to achieve better and to do better than the other person who is competing against them.
