Milgram

The Milgram experiment is a cornerstone of psychological understanding. It was one of the first properly documented cases in which we could observe the inclination of people to blindly follow authority even when we are sure that it will cause bodily harm or injury to an innocent person. The fact of the matter is that no doctor, or cop or anyone else, should be able to coerce someone else to willfully commit acts of physical violence against another person, regardless of the intention behind the action. Beyond that, I think there is a very distinct responsibility that everyone should take upon themselves, and that is to be critical of everything we see. There are many cases in which someone is going to just use their title, or uniform to try and convince you that they are to be trusted and followed blindly, and that should never be trusted by anyone.
