Atacama Desert – where fast fashion goes to die. It is estimated that around 40,000 tons of clothes end up here each year due to unsold merchandise and a fast fashion turnover rate between seasons. These clothes arrive in high volumes from China and Bangladesh and the chemical component makes them unacceptable in municipal landfills.
