This photo is of an exhibit by Singaporean artist, Tan Zi Xi, titled, Plastic Ocean. For this piece, Zi Xi collected, cleaned, and assembled over 20,000 pieces of ocean-bound plastic. The piece was an immersive experience; guests were encouraged to walk beneath the plastic waves to imagine how suffocating it must be for marine life to live amongst an ocean of plastic. The artist encouraged attendees to reflect on overconsumption and excessive – use of plastic in packaging.
