Have festivals become overrated? Possibly so. It’s hard to rationalize spending a weekend in the boiling sun amidst dozens of teens in bathing suits and flower crowns at an outdoor festival for only a few acts you love. Here are the top 5 rock concerts happening this summer in the Tri-state area, selfies not included.

1. June 2: Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band in Atlantic City, NJ

The only thing better than seeing a Beatle in a casino? Seeing that Beatle accompanied by musicians such as Colin Hay (Men At Work) and Steve Lukather (Toto). That’s correct: at the Borgata Casino this summer, you can hear “Yellow Submarine,” “Land Down Under” and “Africa,” all in one show. I bless the rains down in Atlantic City.

2. June 16: Paul Simon in Philadelphia

Think the Wells Fargo Center in Philly is too much of a trek? Simon will be playing New York in September, but you may want to catch this show the sooner the better–it’s reportedly Simon’s final tour.

3. June 17: Roger Daltrey at Forest Hills Stadium

There’s nothing quite like seeing a concert at Forest Hills, arguably one of the coolest and most historic stadiums in the country. The Who’s Roger Daltrey will be singing Tommy in its entirety there in June, and Sparks will definitely be flying.

Bob Dylan at Forest Hills Stadium in 1965.

4. July 10, 11, 13 & 14: Radiohead at Madison Square Garden

Radiohead just wrapped up a South American tour in which they played hit-heavy setlists, including classics like “Creep” and “My Iron Lung.”  They’re now headed for the states, and they’re set to play the Garden on four nights in July.

5. July 18: Weezer & the Pixies at Jones Beach

Weezer and the Pixies will be performing at the outdoor theater together. “We’re all big Weezer fans, so we’re really looking forward to this summer,” Pixies lead singer Black Francis said in a statement. Both bands will be playing their classics as well as promoting new music.
