Final Blog Post- Hamilton

Hamilton is catching the attention of people who do not pay much attention or no attention to Broadway and musical shows. We have great hip hop musical leaders who have been posting pictures of Hamilton the show they have recently attended with their younger kids and how inspired they felt when they left. The show is sold out until 2017 and Contemporary theater is the start to attract more newer audiences. Theater is going to keep on changing as the years go by and I think that is what makes theater exciting. Hamilton has brought a great change to Broadway but it has brought in a great number of new faces.

NYC Scavenger Hunt

Besides the fact that the rain was extremely irritating, overall the scavenger hunt was an amazing experience. I wish we were given more opportunities to explore the city for classroom experiments in all of the classes. It helps us understand the topic more and makes us dig deeper into what we are studying. I was surprised by the amount of Theater related restaurants we really do have in NY. My team divided up so the guys I was with, we found this restaurant themed restaurant near the NYU campus. We walked all the way down to 15th street because we heard it was very nice and it was pretty interesting.  Doing this assignment if the weather was decent outside would have been resulted in me wanting to run around a little more but the rain was very uninspiring. Going to times square would have helped my team and I rack up more points but for a first time doing something like this, very happy.

Museum visit

Starting the day off walking through central park on a sunny NYC day to the museum was a beautiful way to start the morning. I have never visited this museum before but it was really interesting especially how the exhibit had old clothing and shoes kept in the glass locks. At first I was wondering if an hour was too long but reading almost everything in the exhibit made the time fly by along with the movie of the girls. The one thing that I really liked was the way the lighting was set up in this exhibit. After I explored around the rest of the museum and it was nothing like this one. The other floors and exhibits were extremely lit up and bright compared to this one being dark but still explorable. After this museum I rushed to the Rubin Museum for another class and this exhibit had a lot of writing which I read to understand whats happening compared to the Rubin which was just observing the picture without any writing.

Blog Response #3

NYPL Blog Response Overall, the New York Public Library trip was very informative and a great time. Coming to school in the City really does have its benefits because instead of just sitting in class, we get to go out and really learn important things much easier. Our presenter did a very outstanding job of showing us around the third floor and had a lot of knowledge about scholarly websites which we can use for our class assignments. This semester involves a lot of exploring different places in the City for class assignments for all of my courses and besides just going for the assignment due, I am excited to visit a few of these places with my friends during spring break. The websites that we were informed about did seem a little confusing to me at first until I got a chance to browse through it n my free time at my house. These sources are going to help me on my assignments tremendously.

Blog Response #2

After watching both Kathakali 1 and Kathakali 2, It is amazing how music and art can make one feel. Both videos illustrated awesome indian dance drama which had very interesting unique make-up of characters, creative costumes, detailed gestures and well defined body movements( in Kathakali 2). The colors really do capture my attention. Art really is one of a kind. When I watch videos like this, it really relaxes me as I try to just picture on what the characters might be saying. They have a unique talent to show us their emotion or feeling through these dramas. Throughout both videos we can see how music and art can be so powerful together.
