Perspectives
Lucas Corcoran: On the Literacy Narrative Assignment
Having students reflect upon the language and literacy practices that they already have in hand can begin to build a crucial link between the classroom and everyday life.
Seth Graves: Differentiating Drafts for Revision
A common discussion I have with other faculty: Drafts, and how to encourage students to take them seriously. It’s important to talk to our students in the classroom about what we mean when we say or ask for revision (sometimes evoking the quip, as in to “re-see”). As a strategy, I try to make the process of revising feel real and necessary by changing the stakes of the assignment.
