Future vision

As result of  my growing understanding, I am interested in too many areas of 3D printing now. I can not really choose just one, but I am able to highlight a few of them. I really like industrial design and interior decoration. And I’m also very interested  in jewelry design.  A lot of companies are using 3D printing to manufacture their products, for example:

Dora Rings

Dora Rings International is huge jewelry company which is using modern technologies to produce its rings.  This is one of the companies I would like to work for because it has been in the market for a very long time and it is well known by a global audience. Dora Rings focuses on just one thing, wedding rings. In my short conversation with Eddy, one of the partners of the company, I discovered that they bought their first 3D printer in China 10 years ago because of the price. They just bought another 2 brand new printers in Italy. They love this technology so much that they are not willing to sacrifice quality for price. Eddy made it clear that this technology is really worth it.

This is an example of how 3D printed rings look and the steps of how they are made:

I also really like the idea of making and selling your designs of 3D objects to printing companies. It’s a great experience for students and beginners to practice   designing shapes and making money. Examples:

I saw the products of  “Shapeways” at the Maker Faire NY in Queens last month and I liked the quality of the printed objects the most.

Sculpteo

I  like these companies as well because any time I go to these two websites, I usually like all the designs of the 3D models. This is inspiring me to create something new too.

One  question that I have since I discovered this new technology is how we can protect ourselves and our future from this great ability to produce whatever we want in our backyards. I don’t want to disappoint and stop the excitement of makers about the new digital revolution, but I would like to hear the opinions of other people who are concerned about their safety. The following video made me think about this:
