Remix Draft

For my remix draft I decided to tell my story using different types of videos and pictures and combing them into one. The audience for this video is undocumented students, their families and people who oppose the bill. The purpose of the video is to inform the audience about the Dream Act. What the Dream Act is and the benefits of it. The genre of the video is informative. The medium that I used for this project was iMovie. I used different types of videos and pictures that show what the Dream Act is. The argument that I’m trying to prove is that the The Dream Act would make a positive impact on our society and by passing this bill it would help undocumented students go to college and they would be resisting stereotypes not only that but this bill would help our economy.

One way I started my video was first presenting the cons of the Dream Act bill. I spoke about the cons that people would have about the bill but I showed them the solutions. I also spoke about statistics on how these students would help and give back to their country that they were raised in. I started my video with Donald Trump’s speech about the stereotypes of Mexicans and other cultures. I then showed a small video of immigrants telling him what they weren’t. I used my story to tell the audience that this bill could be helpful and I ended the video with what I think is a closing statement and for the audience to think about afterwards. One audio that I used through out the whole video was the song of John Lennon, “Imagine.” I think this song is appropriate because it talks about just peace and happiness. This bill does open up other issues mainly immigration and there people who are very passionate opposing immigrants. There are rallies and people tend to get overheated and fight. This song represents the opposite.

The remaking of my work into a multimedia piece has changed my project because I was able to research and find out more about this bill and hear different stories from these DREAMers. The biggest challenges that I’ve had was trying to get everything what I wanted to say in less than three minutes. I wanted to speak more about the financial aid students would get and how some students work really hard but are sometimes one step back in their education. I wanted to go more in depth but for the purpose of my video I sticked with showing the main important facts. What I like about my video was the ending because I think I did a well job at proving my point. I want my readers to focus on benefits of it and to know what the Dream Act is. I think I did well on the thesis and argument section because argued this bill from the pros and cons sides.  One of my main concerns is the thesis, I’m hoping my readers know what it is that I’m trying to explain.

Introduction

Hi my name is Tania Dorado. I have lived in NYC practically all my life. I was born in Mexico and raised in Long Island City, Queens at the age of five. My major is marketing, focusing in the entertainment industry.

I have two pets, a shih-Tzu mix named Coco and I recently adapted a kitten named Toby. Cats and dogs can definitely get along. When I’m not working I like to read mystery books or ones that don’t always have a happy ending. That’s the same with movies, I’d rather watch thriller movies than happy films. Other than that one of the hobbies that I love to do is to go to concerts mainly, to alternative rock concerts.

I chose this picture because not only do I like trees and forest but it shows an open road that could lead to anywhere. I want to travel to many places as much as I can and just explore different cultures with my close friends.
