Interview Questions

Question: What is the best thing you have ever witnessed?

The best thing I’ve ever witnessed is the highest point of a hiking trip I went on. For context, me and my friends decided to go hiking and I thought it wasn’t really going to be exciting. However, I was willing to go as it was going to be the last big get together before they left for college. As we hiked up I began to enjoy myself more and more until we reached the top of the mountain. We were upstate and all you could see around you were the greenness of the trees for miles on end. At that moment it felt euphoric, I needed to sit down and process what I was seeing. Sometimes, we all get too caught up in our daily tasks and our future we forget to enjoy the moment. The little things like the smell of fresh air or the beauty of nature around us was forgotten until that reflection. I also reflected on my friendships. I’ve known these people for the better part of a decade and now they’re leaving. It made me appreciate having this moment with them and the time we spent beforehand. I guess even though the most beautiful thing I’ve seen was the highest point of a mountain the best thing I’ve witnessed is the get together of people I’ve loved my whole life one last time.

  1. I really liked your reflection on how a hiking trip allowed you to calm down and reflect on how we are always in a rush and the friends that have always been there for us. I felt the same thing when my friends were going to different colleges. I remember also going hiking on Bear Mountain once and say such a beautiful view. At that moment I thought the way up was so worth it.

  2. I really like how you used hiking as way to realize what’s really happening around you. It is always the little things that give you the real sense of reality. It brought you and your friends together and also gave you a sense of euphoria.
