FIELD ANALYSIS

This was taken on the 12th floor of the Newman Vertical Campus. The tomato and color stuck up to me because i love tomato’s. What makes this piece interesting is the coloring of the art, it makes it stand out. The main components of this piece would tomato in the background freshly grown to tell the audience that the tomato is fresh. The repetition of similarity occurs in the color. The color of this art keep repeating adding a warm comfort. The binary oppositions are present in the art piece by telling us that to buy from this company because their tomato are grown fresh from trees and it is big and attractive to the eye. What is being suggested is that the fruit is big and juicy and grown fresh from the plant. What i want to know is why did not the artist add more playful color to the art.

Based on the image, the artist created this type of piece to to place an ad for consumers. Based on the building applied in this poster the art looks ancient, so i think this was created in the early 19th century. This image does remind me of something that I have seen before such as other food ads like Mcdonald with their burgers. Based on my knowledge I believe that the ad is targeting their reach a wide range of people and age-levels through various through various audience. The intended audience would be house wife because back then they would mostly be the one shopping for food. What drew me to the artwork is that I love eating fruits such as tomato and apple. The purpose of this piece is persuade people to buy this company’s tomato. The creator wanted to reach more and more audiences and tell them that they have the most fresh big tomato’s. The historical circumstances in this case would be the tomato growing from a plant to a tomato. The point of view of this piece would be that it gives an ancient theme to know that the fruit is not in factory grown compare to fresh grown tomato’s. In this artwork, Logos is present in the sense that the tomato is grown fresh. The plant shown in the painting shows that it the tomato was just yank out fresh and ready for the public. The art makes me want to go get a tomato and eat it.

  1. I agree when you said, “The main components of this piece would tomato in the background freshly grown to tell the audience that the tomato is fresh.” The reason is when I first saw the painting I agree that the main component of it was the Tomato seeing how the coloring of it made it stick out the most and they used brighter colors to make it seem more fresh.
