Interview Questions

What book has had the most profound impact on your life?

A Book that has had an impact on my life would be “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” By Betty Smith. Overall this book is very bittersweet and that is one of the many reasons I enjoyed reading it. The family in this book went through many struggles with money, unemployment and overall family issues. Despite these difficulties however, they still found joy in life through each other. The main character in the book would continuously find small moments in life that make up happiness which is something I never did. Some of these moments would be sheltering from the rain under a storefront, being on the rooftop of her building and even going to a new school. This book helped me accept that even if family is occasionally hard to deal with, behind all those frustrations there is always the reminder that these are ties, blood related or not, that we have lived with and will always look to for comfort. As well as the fact that happiness does not only have to be defined by one singular goal or achievement, but it can also be the small seconds in life we look past.

For the class activity, when interviewing my classmate I chose to ask the interview question where would you like to go in the world? My classmate told me that they have already traveled to many places such as Japan and Dubai. I thought that this was really cool because those are some of the countries on the top of peoples travel lists. It was very interesting to hear the places they visited in Japan such as Osaka, other cities, the countryside and how much they enjoyed it. I was glad that I chose to ask this question because Japan is one of the many places I’d like to visit. I think that it has great architecture, food, culture and it was nice to hear that someone saw it all firsthand.

  1. That book sounds very meaningful. I struggle to find good books to read but your book sounds very intriguing and like you can learn a lot from it and yourself as well.
