I watched the film “Evolution of A Black Panter (1/2)” which focuses on the story of Kathleen Cleaver and the work she did as a political activist. I found it interesting that Kathleen’s parents were both very educated and active in civil rights. Their actions and activism are probably what inspired Kathleen to follow in their footsteps and become an activist herself. Kathleen states that during the time she ended high school, there was a struggle for the black community. Her having to go through this struggle and see it first-hand is another reason why she wanted to become an activist. Kathleen eventually joined SNCC and later joined the Black Panther Party. Her story is inspiring to many young women and activists across the country. Kathleen’s story allowed me to see what the world looked like as a young black woman in America in the 1960’s. Her story is incredible; it really shows how brave and passionate the women in the Black Panther party were. And through her story and the documentary, I learned that women played a crucial part in the Black Panther Party.

I really like how you portrayed every Individual who played a role in The Black Panther. I agree on you with how you described Kathleen story.
I like the way you included her background and why she decided to become an activist. Her being raised with activist parents and seeing what they were advocating for firsthand probably is what made her decide to become one herself.
