Final Project

This semester has been a journey of significant growth and self-discovery as a writer. From the first week’s assignment to the latest piece, I’ve noticed a marked improvement in my ability to articulate complex ideas and develop a more cohesive narrative structure. At the beginning we set writing goals and mine were to strengthen my vocabulary in writing and to express myself in writing in a way that I can persuade or communicate. I believe I was able to accomplish these goals throughout all my writing for this semester. My writing has developed in unexpected ways, particularly in how I now approach topics with a more analytical mindset. This semester’s work has inspired me to set new goals, such as focusing on sharpening my argumentative skills and critical thinking skills. Lastly, one major realization I’ve had is the importance of revision; my initial drafts often lacked the depth and clarity that later revisions brought out..

One piece of writing I am particularly proud of is my research based argument essay on the lack of representation of women in Wikipedia and The Women In Red.The process of creating this work was both challenging and rewarding. I spent countless hours researching, organizing my thoughts, and refining my arguments to ensure a balanced and well-supported essay. This essay is the best example of my skills. It shows how well I can gather information and explain it in a convincing way. When I was writing it, I felt really focused or  “in the zone”, which helped me create a style that feels true to myself.

On the other hand, a piece of writing  that was particularly challenging for me was the Rhetorical Analysis Essay. I found the Rhetorical Analysis Essay to be quite difficult because I struggled with organizing my thoughts and approaching the task of analyzing two different movements. It was challenging to compare and contrast these movements while also applying the concepts of ethos, pathos, and logos. I met this challenge by breaking down the process into manageable steps. I structured my thoughts by arranging them into paragraphs and prioritizing what should come first in the essay. I started with background information and then made my way into applying the rhetorical devices for each movement. This project taught me the importance of patience and persistence, as well as the need for thorough planning in tackling complex subjects. These lessons will definitely shape how I tackle future academic tasks, making me more strategic and resilient in facing challenges.
