Step 8 Analysis
Group 2:
-Interesting building architecture, it reminds me of an iceberg.
-The large ceiling space on the top floor gives it a loft-like feel.
-Advertising on the building could be another revenue stream.
Questions
-If the building is a dorm, will the outer building material be made out of glass like in the model?
-If events are held in the dorm to foster relationships and connections between resident students, will non-resident Baruch students be allowed to participate?
-How many people can the building house?
Group 3:
-The alarm itself is very long, but it is interesting to see the inner-workings of the alarm.
-Interesting combination of materials, especially the light and sound function.
-KickStarter funding is a great idea as well as advertising.
Questions
-Could the Smart Alarm be used in any other ways aside for sleepy students cramming for finals?
-Is there a way to make the alarm more compact, like the drawing?
-Will it be battery operated or can it be plugged in? Could it be connected to the student’s laptop to be charged?
-Could the SmartAlarm be programmed to advertise for products? Like once you start falling asleep, a loud ad for Starbucks or Redbull starts to play?
Group 4
-The picture and poster clearly state the group’s goals and proposed plan.
-Other online 3d companies aside from Shapeways can also be considered.
-Selling the 3d printed items in the Baruch bookstore is a great way to create revenue and generate marketing for Baruch clubs.
Questions
-Where will you put the room?
-How many students can use the room at one time?
-Can individual students participate?
-Will winning designs be sold on Shapeways or another online 3d printing platform as well?
-Will a bidding process need to happen before partnering with a 3d printing company? Like how contracts between companies and the city work? Will the 3d printing companies have to present plans to Baruch & CUNY and Baruch can only work with the company offering the best deal?
-Can other CUNY students use the room or only Baruch clubs?
Group 5
-Good choice of colors, people will know the spot is reserved for Baruch students and staff.
-Great idea that can easily be made possible through 3d printing technology available today.
-The prototype cone’s block-like shape can be implemented in the final product to emphasize the difference between a normal traffic/parking cone and Baruch’s version.
Questions
-How large will the cones be? Maybe a little larger than normal traffic/parking cones so no one will miss it?
-Are there any legal issues that need to be addressed before claiming key parking spots next to Baruch?
-How will you generate revenue?
