One Day…

Long before I heard about 3D printing, I had a need for an alternative to all of the pills given to us by medical officials to treat our needs, and I’m sure I’m not the only one, because no one’s ever alone in what they believe, although it may feel like it. Now that I’ve done my research, I know that we are much closer to addressing health issues through food, which is absolutely amazing! The magazine cover and excerpt below is something I hope to see on the shelves of our local and global magazine distributors when it comes to life.

Screen Shot 2015-12-21 at 11.16.33 AMHealth issues are something that many try to avoid talking about. In one’s early stages of having any diagnosed health issue, many people try to get rid of it before it becomes a larger part of their life. What if I told you that your dreams were about to become a reality? Food enthusiast and 3D printing guru, Brian Luptak, the Project Manager of 3D Chocolateering believes that 3D Screen Shot 2015-12-21 at 11.16.56 AMprinted food shouldn’t be used for mass production, but SHOULD be used for customizing food for people who have certain dietary needs. This came to his attention due to the fact that many people suffer from egg allergies, and depending on the severity of the allergy, you can not have cakes, pancakes, and virtually anything that contains eggs in it. This can limit the types of food the individual is able to intake drastically.

Seeing as that canScreen Shot 2015-12-21 at 11.17.11 AM be a pressing issue, the focus right now is to begin trying to create foods that can apply to the needs of those of certain demographics with general needs that can help the masses in that category such as the elderly, athletes, as well as pregnant women. In this instance, the niche markets they are targeting aren’t trying to address a health issue, but it would be a great start to be able to apply it to people who do not desperately need it to survive. Eventually, they plan to work towards a solution for more health related dietary needs such as diabetes, high cholesterol, iron deficiency, asthma, autism as well as being able to enjoy your favorite foods while having certain allergies by substituting ingredients in the dishes such as those who are lactose intolerant.

For all you health enthusiasts, you can enjoy a burger without the guilt of all of the extra calories and for all the women who have cravings while you’re pregnant, you can enjoy your favorite foods without worrying about endangering the health of your child while getting your nutrients. Customization of food based on dietary needs is coming to a restaurant near you and will soon be something that can be created in everyone’s households! Now you can make your cake and eat it too!
