From Art to Life
Activity:
The children will be asked to tap into their imagination and create a design for a 3D printed toy based on an uplifting emotion they feel or want to feel. These creations must not only have an impact on its creator but also be effective to have an impact on others, based on their compelling visuals and insightful reasoning.
Impact:
This activity aims to aid in social emotional and personal development by strengthening communication skills and self- expression through artistic mediums that help build technical & creative skills. This exercise will also touch on the integral topic of self-worth and empower the kids to tap into their inner power & use their existing strengths and passions to expand their imaginations for the betterment of themselves and others, as they all possess power despite their circumstances.
Materials needed:
Paper (Plain & Colored) – Pencils – Scissors (optional) – Glue – Markers – Crayons – Misc. Art supplies
Procedure:
- Introduction of self and project
- Brainstorming session to find out what makes each child the happiest. This can be an element from a certain place or thing they are fond of. If it is a person, it must be based on a trait or talent that they possess themselves.
- From the emotions fostered they will be asked to come up with a toy design based on that thing or things
- Each person will present their creation and reasoning, as well as collectively discuss the lessons learned
Post workshop the 10 top 3D toy designs will be chosen and printed with names and descriptions attached. Having teamed up with prospective toy company, the toys will be sold worldwide and a portion of the proceeds will go to ART of hearts and aid in the development of children all over the world.
