Step 4: Final Details
- Put together and organize all magazine article elements
Step 5: Finalize
- Perform a quality check before submitting
Step 4 Process:
As always, things don’t normally go as smoothly as planned when you create a draft layout. I did the best that I could to stay true to my original layout, but adjustments had to be made. For example, the article I wrote, when divided into two columns per page, only spanned 3 pages rather than four. To compensate for this, I had to add more images than I initially thought I would include.
Therefore, probably my biggest challenge in this step was creating harmony between all the elements. I am not a master at Indesign, nor typography, and least of all magazine layouts–but hopefully it turned out okay.
Step 5 Process:
Before giving myself the hypothetical greenlight that I was finished, I did a quality check to make sure everything was in order. I performed a spelling and grammar check by reading through my article again (my eyes were a bit blurry when I did this, so hopefully I didn’t miss anything). I think checked to make sure there was nothing awkward or misplaced about the images.
