I still need to get more footage of the dynamic of the pizzeria since not many people showed up the day I filmed.

I have been hearing about this documentary for the longest, but haven’t gotten around to watching it until a few weeks ago. Abducted in Plain Sight is about the disappearance/abduction of Jan Broberg by a close family friend in the 70s. This documentary is just wild – it leaves you at the edge of your seat as well as thinking how crazy/bizarre the whole thing is.
Skye Borgman (the director and producer) did an amazing job with this crime documentary. I liked how it wasn’t just a person talking all the time: there were scenes that were pixelated to depict a flashback and emphasize the 70’s; the distorted voices to represent aliens; the sound of a typewriter to let the viewer know the timeline; and the black screen with a description which I guess was used as a buffer between interviews.
For my documentary, I️ would like to follow a chocolate cafe/restaurant and the process of how the chocolate is made and then used in a dish.
For my visual poem, I plan on following a specific person doing his/her daily routine which I will capture with close-ups and medium shots. I would like my video to be based on the concept of the meaning of life. Soundwise, I want the person I’m following to recite a poem (which I will write) based on this concept with either background music or some natural sounds. For natural sounds, the person going on the train/the train coming into the station or the sound of footsteps or just the commotion on the streets. For background music, I want it to be instrumental. I am not sure which song yet, but here are some instrumental songs that I found:
by Sarah Burchell, Giselle Medina, and Daisy Rodriguez
I really liked the shots of the sunflower field and how there was not the same shot twice; therefore, it was not repetitive. There was no natural sound; however, there was narration with some soft music. The narration is about time and how it is a social institution, not a physical reality. I liked how this video is composed of two different things but the editor made it cohesive.
