Ineffective Practices at NYC DOE

As in other large, urban school districts, a significant number of New York City’s students either fail to graduate or complete school without the skills or abilities necessary to achieve a successful future. As a response to this system-wide dilemma, the NYC DOE has enacted many accountability measures to review overall school quality, the performance of principals and the performance of students at the school. Unfortunately, these assessments have failed to support students with academic struggles.

Ballet Training Curriculum

Without a curriculum, teachers of different backgrounds have been teaching different principles, leaving students with a disconnected foundation of training.  If The Ballet Studio continues to ignore this issue, many students may seek out other schools which contain a more united teaching philosophy.

Funding Prison College Programs

Though unpopular, prison college programs benefit society and should be re-instituted across the nation.  Prison college programs give people the opportunity to prepare to re-enter society successfully.  In this process three major benefits are realized: improved public safety, increased social justice and decreased tax spending on corrections.
