Food Insecurity: America’s Hidden Crisis

A 2013 study by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service found that 1 out of every 6 households in the United States faced food insecurity, meaning over 50 million Americans had difficulty acquiring adequate nutrition in their diet due to a lack of resources they have available at their disposal.

America’s Obesity Epidemic

In the past few decades, obesity rates have double in adults and tripled amongst children. Obesity has been linked to several medical conditions including: heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, gallbladder disease, gallstones, osteoarthritis, gout, breathing problems, asthma and some cancers.
