Next Steps…

Freshmen Seminar is a great experience so far and I have learned so much from it- from the resources I can use in the college to skills I should acquire. The most important thing to me, however, is what I have learned from participating in the Community Service Project. Not only did I have a chance to take a step and help out our community, I also learned what it was like to do it together as a group. It was a great learning experience as each members of our group had assigned roles. Although it took a while and a lot of work to finally pick, contact, and verify with an organization, the feeling of accomplishing this task with my group was truly rewarding.

The student speakers we had last week during our class meeting made me focus a lot more on the importance of extracurricular activities. I have been worrying about my GPA for the past few months that I haven’t been joining any clubs because of the thought that I will not have enough time to do my work. Seeing how the speakers can also do well in school while also participating in numerous clubs, organizations, and honor societies as leaders, I amamazed! Now, I kind of regret not joining anything for my first semester of freshmen year, but I will definitely look forward in joining next semester.

Like stated in my previous entry, I always wanted to join VITA because it not only helps me learn something very useful in life, but I can also learn it to help others. The project has emphasized the importance of giving back to the community to me, and after listening to the class discussions, I feel that I am responsible or more like I should help out others who are less fortunate.
