On October 29 at 6:00 pm, Professor Erica Richardson will host a live roundtable discussion of the music theater piece dwb or “Driving While Black” by Roberta Gumble and Susan Kander.
dwb depicts a black mother’s love for her son from infancy to adolescence and her increasing concern regarding police brutality. Through an eclectic blend of classical music, percussion, opera, and performance, dwb illustrates how love and the threat of violence are intermingled in everyday black life. dwb has been produced as a video performance by the Baruch Performing Arts Center and Opera Omaha.
