Purpose: This anti-racist teach-in will bring together students and faculty to develop critical language and perspectives for organizing a collective antiracist movement at Baruch. Initiatives promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) have grown in popularity as a liberal solution to historical patterns of racial exclusion. In this teach-in we will consider what is liberalism and how is it related to DEI? How do we situate liberalism and DEI within antiracism? We invite Baruch students and faculty to join Jashua Rojas (Baruch ‘23), Professor Angie Beeman , and Professor Karanja Carroll in a collective exercise of defining liberalism and discussing the alternatives that exist beyond this paradigm.
