The podcast overall was very sad but true. Nowadays that’s how people outside the United States. Nothing really surprised me in the podcast. I don’t mean it in a bad way, it is that that’s the sad truth. Everything that was responded by the people while doing the interview was true even if it was very hurtful to say in the interview. My parents crossed the border to give me and my family a better life. They tell me stories about how dangerous it was, it is no joke. The way the people sound in the interview how heartbreaking it is to be an immigrant living condition.
Maybe one thing that did stand out for me was how there are two big governments right there and none of them do anything to help out thousands of people that need help.
A question I have is about MPP I would really like to learn more about that.
Grade 4/5.
Kevin, the lack of government support and dependence on volunteers stood out to me too – thanks for drawing attention to this. For more information on MPP, I highly recommend this blog written by a former immigration judge in NYC who now gives his time to helping immigrants with asylum applications. He and I volunteer together at New Sanctuary Coalition and he’s a great writer. https://www.jeffreyschase.com/blog/2020/1/28/statement-on-the-one-year-anniversary-of-the-mpp-program
