Change is scary. Some welcome it with open arms, while others close the door before its breeze even gets a chance to pass them by. But without it, humanity would have no hope of realizing life in its fullest.

Hi! My name is Rullyann and I’m an undergraduate student at Baruch College, seeking a degree in Operations Management & Data Analytics.

Now what on earth is a business student doing engineering for?

I found my way creating at the MakerHub through the Entrepreneurship Ambassador Program at Baruch, where I met wonderful people and other bright students that helped me stand where I am today. Before coming to Baruch, I had an intermediate understanding of Robotics and Engineering, studying it in high school but never really planning on taking it further academically in college. Never in my lifetime would I have imagined being able to still do engineering at a business school! Through the Entrepreneurship Center, I have been able to put together my passions and my tech experience to create things of use for the world around me, and I have never been more excited to learn and apply myself as an entrepreneur.

Like many other young adults, I’ve never really known what it is that I’ve wanted to do. I was always interested in everything, but when it came to picking one single thing I would never end up being satisfied. A classic case of the “jack of all trades, master of none,” if you will. I didn’t want to commit to STEM, but I could never be as passionate as the people in finance, or the kid next door who started his own Amazon FBA business… I’m simply not the type to work for money, but as a business student my overwhelming sense of altruism has always left me in a weird spot, always left wanting for more.

My time at the MakerHub, however, has inspired me to push myself harder in becoming more proactive with the skills I have right now. I hope to launch my own small business in branded clothing and art by the end of the year, continue creating at the MakerHub, and just do what I can to help the world around me.

The future is ever evolving given our present times, and there are too many variables in life to substantiate the what-ifs. But right now, I’m glad with being the engineer disguised as a business student, and I can’t wait to see where God will take me next.

P.S. my sincerest apologies for this atypical-formatted blog… I’m doing this for fun so excuse the scuffs >:( <3
