Gun Violence
Regarding our discussion today on the Constitution, Amendments, etc., I found the video I mentioned about gun violence. Personally, I have not formed an opinion on citizens owning guns and although I thought this video was pretty powerful, it still did not manage to convince me. (But that’s just me).

This video is very powerful. I’ve personally never wanted to own a gun because I don’t believe that I’ll be safe with one so there’s no purpose for me–especially being in NYC my entire life–but the reactions of each individual were priceless. I also don’t really have an opinion on citizens wanting to own a gun, it’s their choice and but I know for sure that this video has further convinced me to not ever own one.
Watching this video was very uncomfortable. We’ve all sat in front of our TVs, mouths wide open as we listen to the stories of yet another mass killing. And we’ve all heard the stories of children taking the guns of their parents and killing themselves or someone else. These stories happen so frequent, yet somehow we forget about them as we think of ways to protect ourselves. As a women, I have thought about owning a gun on emotional occasions. As the world seems to get more dangerous I consider it. But what if I shoot myself? What if I drop it and it fires? What if my twins decide they want to replicate the game they watch their uncles play? What if?
I think I was like every person in this video. I have for a while thought about when I get older keeping a gun safely locked away in my house for the “just in case” moments where I would need to protect myself. But I don’t think I could ever forgive myself if a gun I had purchased for my protection ended up being used to kill someone else. It would be like me shooting that person, which I could never harm another life unprovoked.
It has made me think twice about ever owning a gun.
