Anti-racism and You

Developed by Sharifa Hampton, Department of Black and Latino Studies, Baruch College

This teaching material was developed as a result of the CUNY 1969 Teach-in & Retreat that took place in Summer 2022. The assignment asks students to create their own manifestos, inspired by the Five Demands. The goal of the assignment is to encourage students to identify and articulate their perceived positionality within academia.

Faculty Information

Sharifa Hampton is a professor of Black and Latino Studies at Baruch College, CUNY and has also spear-headed several CUNY-wide programs that seek to increase, encourage, and support the inclusion and educational success of students from severely underrepresented groups in higher education. Sharifa Hampton is currently a doctoral student at the Graduate Center, CUNY. She received her M.A. degree from the College of Staten Island, CUNY and her B.A. degree from New York University.
