This teaching material was developed as a result of the CUNY 1969 Teach-in & Retreat that took place in Summer 2023. The assignment asks students to focus specifically on the events that occurred before and after students submitted the “18 Demands” to the Brooklyn College administration, write a reflective essay, and conduct an interview.

Faculty Information
Antonia Santangelo is an adjunct lecturer in anthropology at York College and Lehman College. Her research interests are in the areas of food, heritage, sustainability and identity. She has worked on archaeological fieldwork projects in the Black Sea region (Turkey, Bulgaria, Ukraine), but is currently using visual ethnography to explore fishing villages in Italy.
