I noticed that “Framework for Success in Postsecondary Writing” highlights most of the important concepts that I have learned before for successful writing and goes on to explain how important it is to teach writing and learning in the development of literacy. I still wonder whether my writing reflects what is written in the article and some of the mechanisms I can apply to attain the highlighted standards. After reading through the article, it is clear that the discussed habits and experiences are important as they are a reflection of what it entails to achieve excellent writing skills. Though I have been guided towards the habits before, I have broadened my knowledge on writing as I am able to tell when to use a certain concept comprehensively. Usually, I practice the habits, and most of the time, I use creativity, but I have now learned to couple it with the other discussed habits. There is no doubt that the experience will improve my education in this course and others.

Week 3
WEEK 3: Write about what seems challenging in the Literacy Narrative assignment. What strategies can you employ to tackle these challenges? What questions remain or things are still unknown about this assignment?
Writing the literacy narrative assignment was an eye-opening process in connection to my writing skills. I faced the challenge of mixing up my ideas, repeating them, grammatical errors, and sentence structures. Writing the paper made me realize my weaknesses in my writing skills. I had to do further research on how I should improve my essay. First, I have to learn how to make a draft by listing the different ideas that I intend to highlight in the essay. I also researched how to improve my sentence structures, including making information clear, using active verbs, using different transitional words, and others. I intend to read widely and write more to improve my writing skills.
WRITER’S JOURNAL PROMPT 1
Maxwell and Dickman believe that “a story is a fact, wrapped in an emotion that compels us to take an action that transforms our world.” How would you define the term story? What do you think are the most important elements of a good story? What examples help support your thoughts?
A good story is part of a Writer’s personal experience or a creative story that seeks to pass a message or lesson to the audience. One thing that makes a good story is the manner in which the writer narrates the experience and the emotions and passion present in the story. A good story puts the reader in the writer’s shoes, creates suspense, and totally draws the reader’s attention. A story should be chronologically written with a lot of creativity and in a form that the audience can read and understand without much analysis. An example of such a story that has recommendable elements is “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe. The story is about African colonization from the point of view of an African and shows some of the impacts of cross-cultural misunderstandings. To have a good story, a writer should always be passionate about it.
Welcome!
Hi Everyone!
My name is Daniel Sharabi, my pronouns are he and him. I enjoy playing baseball and basketball with friends. I also enjoy listening to music and hanging out with my amazing girlfriend. One of my goals for this class is to become a better writer in general. As well as to keep up with an asynchronous class which may be difficult for me. One question I have about this is course is how the assignments will work? Everything seems a bit confusing regarding the assignments.
One writing rule that I have been taught over the years is to make sure your grammar is correct. For example all the time tenses should match. I was taught this rule in middle school but my teachers in high school continuously reinforced this rule. This rule has impacted my writing in different ways. However, I always try make sure that the tenses are correct while writing. Because my high school teachers would stress it so much and take off points. I don’t know if I truly believe in this rule however, I do feel it makes the writing more cohesive and clear.
My relationship with writing was never a very positive one. Writing was and still is very difficult for me. I usually use writing for more academic purposes. Whenever, I have to write papers or even journal entries for school I would always procrastinate because I struggled so much with writing. However, I feel this class actually may benefit me in many ways for the future and I will hopefully be able to become a better writer.
