Source evaluation Criteria

Five relevant sources were selected to guide the research in response to the earlier presented research question, “How can a student use secondary sources and internet sources and still avoid plagiarism”. After running the first search, more than 20,000 peer-reviewed articles were achieved. The achieved sources were evaluated using the CRAAP test, whereby each source was examined by considering its currency, relevance, accuracy and purpose.  Following the scope of this discussion, one source “Levin, V. I. (2018). Plagiarism, its Essence and Measures to Prevent and Handle it. Vysshee obrazovanie v Rossii= Higher Education in Russia, 27(1), 143-150” will be examined. Levins article was included because it was the most current article addressing the issue in consideration. Even though other articles were composed in the last ten years, the information entailed in Levins was relevant and accurate. As the name title of the article reads, “plagiarism, its essence and measure to prevent and handle”, it addressed almost every aspect of the research question. The first few pages of the article provided details about the origin and definition of plagiarism. The remaining sections of the essay touched on various means that can be used to eradicate plagiarism. In addition to meeting the last inclusion criteria, the latter article contains verifiable data a fact that increases its accuracy. The author has cited other studies throughout the article.
