Today I attended a general interest meeting for West Indian Culture club at Baruch. This is probably the first club even I’ve been in full attendance for at any one meeting. I made brief appearances at other clubs before but they only had about ten minutes left before they concluded their meetings. I actually ended up coming to this club really last minute. I was around the school when club hours were about to start, and I saw a friend of mine who told me to come to the G.I.M. To be really honest, my original reason for going was because she told me they had dominoes. I was really hungry so I said sure, I was not about to out miss out on free food.
The club was actually really interesting and fun. My parents are from Haiti so I am part of the West Indian Culture. The club started with the board members introducing themselves, and then they told us we would be playing Kahoot to see how much we know about the culture. The only questions I could answer were the ones about finishing song lyrics and the colors of certain countries’ flags. Playing the game made me realize I knew almost nothing about the Caribbean, and that I’m only connected to it by blood. Despite my defeat in Kahoot, I definitely plan on going to next club meeting because this one was a lot of fun.
