Baruch has many helpful resources that are open to students. The STARR Career Development Center is particularly useful and works to prepare students for getting jobs. I went to a resume workshop at the STARR center this past month. I decided to go to this workshop because my old resume needed to be updated. I wanted to have my resume prepared early in college so that I have it just in case I ever need it. I think that resumes are very important because they are the first thing that an employer sees and is what can get their attention. I found this workshop very effective and I learned a lot. I learned how to format my resume and choose what information I should include and should not include in it. In addition, I also got a packet that goes over every part of a resume and contains many examples. I plan on going back to the STARR Center to work on more things including cover letters and preparing for a job interview in the future. I recommend going to the career center sometime soon to learn more about how to get ready for a job and work towards their career.
