Baruch College is an outlet for a variety of opportunities where you can get many internships, part time jobs and even a full time job in the field that you want. However, many of these opportunities go unnoticed because of missed information sessions or students may be unaware that they are taking place. I know that I am one of those students that was unaware of the daily events that happen regarding all of these opportunities. I recently attended the Diversity Pipeline Career Programs & Networking event where I got to hear about different programs available for internships mainly for summer 2018. I learned about what each program has to offer, the requirements and application process. Each of these programs are focused to offer minority students different opportunities like mentorships and internships.
I found it very interesting that there were internships available for freshman because most freshmen have no experience or a small amount since we are still at the beginning of our college experience. But, that was the whole point of the event, to provide us the resources in order to begin gaining experience in the fields that we want. There were about eight program recruiters that spoke in the panel. Programs that were at the event were ANY, HACU, INROADS, MAIP, MLT,SEO, MODERN GUILD, and T-HOWARD FOUNDATION. I am really interested in four of these programs for the summer which are ANY, INROADS, MLT, and SEO. I plan to apply soon in order to start gaining experience in my field. I am hoping for the best outcome and get an internship. Events like this can really help students advance their career process.
