After Learning the basics of Sketch up, Our fist assignment was meant to help us exercise and hone our new skills. Getting in the habit of sizing objects to scale, becoming familiar with some of the tools, and uploading and sharing our designs onto 3D Warehouse were some of the things learned in this exercise.
Cube Dimensions:
1 1/8″, 1/2″, 3 1/2″
Robot Refection:
For this project I wanted to make a Robot, so I looked for single component parts that would fit a simple design for it. It was really my first time moving several objects to make one representation, so it was a little difficult at first with Sketch up. Sometimes in the 3D space its hard to know where exactly you are moving the object in relation to everything else. I had a little trouble with figuring out how to rotate the objects in certain directions but, soon realized that it turned in different directions with each anchor points. I’m not sure if my advice is useful, but knowing what you want to make is a good start, and knowing that it might take some time to get it right is also important.
