Welcome to my blog! I think one of the largest and most impactful experiences of my life was high school. Going to Townsend Harris High School was an extreme wake up call, but also a wonderful rollercoaster full of excitement, ups, and definitely some downs, just as I expect college to be. Going to such a demanding high school really gave me an insight on what college would be like, demanding and rewarding. My high school experience showed me a lot about who I am as a student, a friend, but most importantly, a person. Townsend Harris really taught me to always put school first, but to always make time for myself and the things I love to do. It especially helped me discover my passion for the arts, particularly theater, in which I had the honor of participating in the production of Lin Manuel Miranda’s “In The Heights.” This play really encouraged me to never give up on myself and to always value my loved ones no matter what. My expectations as a college student are not too different than that of high school. I expect to continue working hard, but to also find a balance in my life so that I can be myself and enjoy my spare time. Honestly, I thought the first semester of college would be extremely overwhelming. However, I’m finding it to be quite manageable and interesting with all the courses I am taking. For my first semester, I hope to continue doing well, despite some challenges college might present me with. I hope that my experience here at Baruch will be splendid, just as I expect it to be.

I think that it is great that you found yourself as a student, but most importantly, a person in high school. It’s great that you also discovered your love for the arts, because it is truly a life changing and rewarding field to participate in. I love “In the Heights!” It’s one of my favorite musicals.
I also went to a demanding high school and I totally agree with how, although it was demanding, it was very rewarding. SImilar to you, high school helped me learn more about myself. I got to participate in various clubs in high school and learned a lot about what I enjoy doing, like community service. I hope you continue to explore your passion for the arts and continue to do well in college!
I think that it’s great that high school impacted you so much and helped to prepare you for the future. I can really relate to this as I too really grew as a person in high school. I feel that it is awesome that you found things that you love and I hope that you get a chance to further explore them at Baruch!
