This picture was taken after my high school graduation at Kings Theater. It was a very hot and long day. It was around 8 pm and we decided to take a picture behind the theater so that we can still capture some sunlight before the sun went down. What I did not realize was the gate behind us. But when I looked back at this picture the gate became a symbol for me. It shows how I stepped outside the gate (high-school) with the support of my parents into a new beginning (college) and I still have their support.
There is another back story to this picture and I think it is quite a funny story to tell. Well my graduation ran for 4 hours, my parents did not want to leave to use the bathroom because they did not want to miss anything. Thus, when we got outside the theater they were looking for the nearest restroom, and I stopped them to take picture before they went. Thus, explaining the straight face that my dad has.
To add on, the picture also shows a little bit of my graduation cap. I decorated the cap with my country’s flag (Bangladesh) and many flowers around it. This cap is another sign of how I keep things for the last minute. I decorated the cap on the morning of my graduation and also had to buy the dress I am wearing in that picture. It brings back the memories of my friend Aleah helping me find a dress last minute. All these last minute details made me be late to my own graduation. This picture became my reminder to never keep things for the last minute and to plan ahead.
