The issue of climate change has been around for years now. But, with the recent Amazon rain-forest fire, California’s wildfire and hurricane Dorian, the topic has become more serious than ever. There are many people who believe that climate change is a hoax. For example, our President Donald Trump believes that the scientist are creating propaganda to scare people. He took the U.S off of the Paris Agreement which dealt with climate change. I believe that the climate change is a major issue and if we don’t act fast on this issue we will have to say goodbye to our home on earth.

According to the Guardian, the CO2 level in the atmosphere has been increasing due to the cutting off of many forest and increase use in fossil fuels. Due to this, the earths atmosphere is constantly heating up, resulting in all these natural genocides. During the California’s wildfire hundreds of homes were destroyed and it burned 50,000 acres of timber and grass (Geimann 2019). The Amazon forest fire burned for weeks and killed hundreds of species. This shows how dangerous climate change is and how fast it is moving and yet people are in denial.

In addition, according to NASA oceans are becoming warmer. “It has warmed 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit since 1969” (NASA). This puts the life of many ocean species in danger. Which also affects human life. Countries that reply on fish market have been facing severe increase in unemployment rates. According to a study from the journal Science the fish population has been declining due to the warmer water. “The fish harvest has dropped 4.1 percent from 1930 to 2010 because of climate change” (McKenna 2019). Resulting in economic decrease for many third world countries.

Climate change does not only affect the older people living right now, but it threatens our generation and the next generation, We are risking our home for more economic advancement. The Arctic ice glaciers are melting which is creating less land space and more water.

All in all, climate change is a very large problem. It puts the lives of many people and species at risk. Thus, actions such as cleaner energy, planting more trees and less use of fossil fuels will allow us to keep our live alive.
