Global warming has been an ongoing issue since the mid-20th century when scientist began to notice an increase in greenhouse gas effect; the result of heat radiating from the Earth, trapped into the atmosphere with no escape. In recent years, the world has started to show major changes in rise in temperature and it’s not going to come to a halt any time soon. With each summer being hotter than the last, and a rapid increase in melting glaciers, we can’t turn a blind eye into the matter. I think that the world, especially the United States, needs to take action immediately, after all we don’t have that much time left before it’s too late to reverse the problem. Besides, if we all just collaborated together to reverse this change, it would literally make the biggest difference in the world. According to the National Climate Assessment, “human influences are the number one cause of global warming, especially the carbon pollution we cause by burning fossil fuels and the pollution-capturing we prevent by destroying forests.” This warming is disturbing Mother Nature’s climate from it’s land to the oceans and at the same time it is destroying ecosystems all around. Personally, the reason I find this topic worth discussing about and very important in my opinion is simple: I want a world for my children and for other future generations to live in. But with so little time left to reverse the matter, I ask myself if I even have time left before we’re severely exposed to “The carbon dioxide, methane, soot, and other pollutants we release into the atmosphere…” Even right now, “hundreds of heat-related deaths occur each year due to direct impacts and the indirect effects of heat-exacerbated, life-threatening illnesses, such as heat exhaustion, heatstroke, and cardiovascular and kidney diseases” and this is all happening within the United States. It’s crazy to think that you’re more likely to die from a heat stroke in the U.S. than from a hurricane, tornado, flood or lightening. Literally nothing else matters if we don’t have a world to live in and I might be going all over the place with this topic but I cannot stress this enough. So don’t ignore the issue and act like you’re immune to it because it’s affecting you more than you think, and that’s not fake news.
